Rice Paper - Jenny's Pick - February ED 2013

 

 

 

February 7, 2013 – Rice Paper (50^th & France): We met at a neat little restaurant behind D’Amico. We had Chris, Sharon, Lisa and Jenny – with it being Jenny’s pick. It was a first time for all of us and I think we’d all go back. The waitress was friendly, had great recommendations and even saved us some spring rolls (pomegranate!). They are known for having some of the healthiest entrée choices in the cities – the appetizers were very good! I can’t speak for the entrées so much as Tommy called at 7:10 to say he missed his ride home from BB so could I come get him. This is after we confirmed he was set for a ride the night before – so my ED friends convinced me to let him sit for a while so ordered, finished my glass of wine and picked him up 45 minutes later. Think he will learn anything from that? He did walk the dog and take out the garbage when we got home – with no fight or stalling. 

So I missed some of the news (especially Lisa) but here are the updates I have:

  Chris – still spending a lot of time and emotional energy on working to formalize/finalize custody for April – keep it up Chris! And talked of her mom’s 30 day visit at her house … good daughter! And said for now no spring break plans as are waiting to see what the schedule with April.

· Sharon – visited her mom in Jackson after surgery (drove down – spent 4 hours – drove back) – another good daughter!; went to her first HS conference for Stephanie (never for Sylvia) – obviously academics aren’t as exciting as concerts! Sylvia has not made a decision on school but has great options and scholarship opportunities; And is planning graduation party (6/1).
 

· Lisa – came a little late after Ian’s conference (yes she attends her kids conferences!) so missed her updates. I do know they are planning a London trip this summer and we talked college prep tests and schools.
 

· Jenny – shared a “Terese” story where Jenny broke her elbow 4 weeks ago taking food to Terese’s family because Anthony broke his leg (picture high heels, cuffed pants, hands full of food bags and stairs = broken arm). O’Brien’s are excited for Spring Break trip to London/Dublin!
 

· Stacy – texted us that she wouldn’t make it as was being taxi driver and ready to call it a day (totally understand!)
 

· Wendy – busy with Hannah's District Choir Concert
 

· Jennifer – skiing out West

Take care gang … was great to see you even if my time was shortened by Tommy!

Firecracker Dumplings

Crispy fried chicken dumplings with spicy apricot and cilantro sauce with a squeeze of lime.

 

Spring rolls – limited availability -

Delicate Rice Paper rolls with lettuce, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro and rice noodles, served with Rice Paper peanut sauce. Choose chicken, shrimp or tofu.

Song Huong beef (JENNY)

Grilled beef marinated with lemongrass, served as a:
- Rice platter: with jasmine rice on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes and red onions, sprinkled with lime, mint and roasted rice powder.

Twirling Chopsticks noodles (LISA & SHARON)  

Cantonese noodles with shrimp, chicken, or tofu in a Rice Paper peanut sauce with baby bok choy, sprinkled with roasted peanuts and cilantro. Choose chicken, shrimp or tofu.
