January 2011 Ethnic Dining - Sharon's Pick - Tavern on France

We went to Tavern on France last night. I chose this hoping a neighborhood hot spot was still within the “rules”. I didn’t get sanctioned so I must be okay! Phew!
Tavern on France

We were missing Jenny who had just gotten back from a trip and needed to be home : (
We had all kinds of yummy stuff starting with the Crab Artichoke Dip = Blue swimming crab, artichoke hearts, fresh spinach, green onions, garlic, spices and parmesan. Topped with a blend of four cheeses then baked. Accompanied by grilled garlic bread.
Chris had the BYO (build-your-own) pizza which turned out to be a fancy Hawaiian pizza.
Lisa had the Walleye Sandwich - A generous filet of wild caught Canadian walleye dipped in Tavern batter, served with shredded iceberg lettuce on a grilled herb focaccia. Accompanied by housemade tartar sauce.
Jennifer had the Tavern Proscuitto & Tomato Pizza - A thin crust brushed with garlic olive aioli. Topped with sliced prosciutto, fresh sliced tomato, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese.
Stacy had All Thai’d Up Pizza - Crispy sesame chicken stix, cut and tossed in Thai peanut sauce then served over a bed of iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot, peapods,
cilantro, cucumbers and mandarin oranges tossed in sesame lime dressing. Finished with crispy wontons and julienned scallions. Or try
with our crispy shrimp.
Wendy had Farmers Market Pizza -A thin crust topped with mozzarella cheese, marinated tomatoes, fire roasted peppers, grilled portabella mushroom and fresh spinach.
Sharon had the highly recommended by the waitress Pan Seared Teriyaki Salmon - A generous filet of Atlantic salmon pan seared and finished with Ginger Orange Teriyaki. Set on a bed of jasmine rice and topped with our pineapple citrus salsa.
We talked about everything from how hard Christmas dinner was to put on the table (Chris)…
surviving two Christmases with the SIL (Stacy)…
the weird teachers at school (Wendy)…
Christmas trauma - pimples! - a new gift brought (Jennifer)…
family rotating meals just like we do for ED at Oak Grill (Sharon) …
the results of genetic testing (Jenny) …
And I don’t think we let Lisa talk …. LISA ???? SORRY : (
We are really anxious for next month when we get to cook with the owner/chef from Gardens of Salonica! Feb 3 !! Jennifer will send us the details later.
Take care, Girlfriends!
Felt really good to see you last night!
